Nayagram block in Jhargram has a population of about 1.5 lakhs. This area has been affected by Maoist and it is among the most backward areas in the country. With a strong vision to improve education facilities in the area our organization GJUBBWWC, established the first primary residential school in 1993. A school started with 35 students and 2 teachers. Today we are providing quality education to 812 students out of which 512 students are day scholars and 300 are residential ST tribal students.
Due to our effective management and Commitment towards our students, the Ministry of Tribal Affairs is aiding with yearly grants to 250 ST students. Despite the financial crunch in the past, we were able to keep our hope and organization alive. We thank our partners, donors, and corporations who have supported us in the past and supporting us in fulfilling our novel work.
Day School
Gohaldiha Jati Upajati Blue Bird Women’s Welfare Centre runs a pre-primary and primary day school affiliated to West Bengal Board of Primary Education. The school follows the West Bengal state government curriculum along with additional subjectsto enhance the knowledge of the students.
The Pre-Primary section includes the Nursery and Kindergarten classes. The method of learning is thematic and activity based. The main focus is on building language skills, (listening, speaking, reading, writing), socializing with classmates, physical activities and kinesthetic skills. Teaching aims to make learning enjoyable and fun. In a free and stimulating environment, children’s intellectual, physical, cultural, artistic and communication skills develop and flourish.
In the Primary sections (classes I – IV)) various academic and non-academic subjects are taught which includes English, Bengali, Mathematics, Hindi, History, Geography, Computer, Nitimala, Science, Enviornmental studies, Storytelling, Rhymes, MonishiderKotha (stories about different philosophers, and famous people) Drawing, Library General Knowledge and Speaking Englishand co-curricular activities that are designed to help the students discover their interests and talents. The class teachersnominate a student each month to prepares a wall magazine on a specific topic which enable the students to remain focused and help them to understand the significance and importance of such event or occurance.
The teachers aim to build an interactive ambience where students freely express their own interests and opinions.
Technology is used to make lessons effective and enjoyable.
Monday to Friday Schedule
- School hours from 06:30 am to 10:20 am.
- Morning assembly starts from 06:30 am and ends at6:45am.
- 1st period – 06:45 am to 07:30 am,Students have their regular classes that are focused on subjects related to their classes.
- 2nd period – 07:30 am to 08:15 am
- 3rd period – 08:15 am to 09:00 am
- Breakfast is served from 09:00 am to 09:20 am
- 4th period – 09:20 am to 09:50am
- 5th period – 09:50 am to 10:20 am
Saturday Schedule
- School hours from 06:30 am to 08:45 am.
- Morning assembly starts from 06:15 am and ends at 6:30 am.
- 1st period – 06:30 am to 07:15am
- 2nd period – 07:15 am to 07:45 am
- 3rd period – 07:45 am to 08:15 am
- 4th period – 08:15 am to 08:45am
- Music, dance, games,drama, recitation, elocution, excursions, trips and various events in the school are an essential part of the curriculum.
Residential School
We try our best to provide the best learning opportunities through academic and non-academic activities. Our educational and development programs have been designed to help students enhance their intellect and skills. The continuous contribution of the teachers and staffs helps the students to motivate to study and excel in the classroom. Each member of the residential school adheres to a routine that promotes a disciplined lifestyle. We regularly carry out various activities and assessments to assess the progress of the students.
The Residential School follows the similar curriculum throughout the year as the day school. The daily schedule for the schools is same too. The daybegins with the morning prayer and thereafter the students attend the school. On Sundays the students religiously practice morning yoga and asanas. Followed by different co-curricular activities.
We engage themselves in other activities such as gardening, cleaning, various games, how to maintain proper hygiene/ sanitation etc. We organize various events such Swami Vivekananda’s Birthday, Republic Day, Netaji Subhas Chandra’s Birthday, Saraswati Puja, Holi, Basant Utsav, Dr Ambedkar’s Birthday, Bengali new Year, Earth Day, Rabindra Jayanti, Environment Day, Rath Yatra, Independence Day, Raksha Bandhan, Teacher’s Day, Biswakarma Puja, Mahalaya, Gandhiji’s Birthday, Children’s Day, Constitution Day and various pujasin the residential school. Students are encouraged to take part in project making all round the year.
