About Us

Gohaldiha Jati Upajati Blue Bird Women’s Welfare Center

Welcome to GOHALDIHA JATI UPJATI BLUE BIRD WOMENS’ WELFARE CENTRE, a non-profit organisation and recognized NGO (Registered under Societies Registration Act xxvi of 1961(Registration no – S/79235 )of 1994-1995) committed to reducing rural poverty through empowering communities.  We believe it is every child’s birthright to receive hope for a better future, education to grow, unconditional love, and protection from disease and illness.  We address Nayagram’s poor literacy rate, poverty, and social problems. With a strong emphasis on sustainable development; we strive to transform primary (elementary) education into epicenters of social and economic development.  Our partnership with the government and individuals help us to bring our vision of rural development to the most remote regions in Jhargram. Recognized for our commitment, innovation, and hard work, our work takes us into the heart of the people in the area. We work with the government, other non-profit organizations, and local people while maintaining our independence without political agenda or religious orientation.

GJUBBWWC is working to ensure that poor tribal people of the region will get equal opportunities in life so they can live with happiness and self-respect. We try to ensure that every child in the area gets proper food and quality education and we have been doing this for the past 31 years!

GJUBBWWC was established with a vision to empower women and children in the area in the year of 1993.GJUBBWWC runs a primary residential school and a day school with a total number of students of around 812 from 20 nearby villages.

The NGO has different programs for medical services, women empowerment, and vocational training and awareness programs.

We achieve our goals primarily through sponsorship, which unites children in need with individual sponsors who wish to address the children’s immediate and basic needs. Sponsorship gives poor children the tools and opportunities necessary for success by providing benefits and supporting programs for each child – primarily in the areas of education and health.

Our sponsorship program currently benefits more than 20 Villages in the Jhargram district of West Bengal, India.

The school started with a mere 35 pupils and 2 teachers and today it shares the pride of having 812 students in total. In the last 30 years, this school, known as GOHALDIHA JATI UPAJATI BLUE BIRD PRIMARY SCHOOL has succeeded in imparting education to more than 5000 kids and lots of them have joined the prestigious universities of India. Many of them, play for the State team and perform professional music and dance. Mrs Puspita Sahu lives with around 400 students and staff at home and she dreams that every single student of this tribe will live their life with dignity and self-respect.
